Connected to a 7kW home wall box, smaller battery ID.3s can be charged from 0-100% in 7 hours and 30 minutes. The longest time any ID.3 takes to refill on an 11kW public charge point is the same, but if you connect the car to a 100kW rapid charger, a 5-80% battery top-up takes between just 31 and 38 minutes.
There’s lots of room up front, and even though the ID.3 is similar in size to the latest Golf, its longer wheelbase means rear-seat passengers have VW Passat levels of space to stretch out. Interior storage is good, with various door pockets and covered compartments.
The Volkswagen ID.3 has 385 litres of luggage space with the rear seats in place. This increases to 1267 litres of room with them folded. That’s more than the Nissan Leaf and smaller cars such as the Renault Zoe, but less than an MG5 EV or Tesla Model 3.
