Mazda2 Lease Deals

The 5-door Mazda2 is a bit different from its competitors because while most rivals use small, turbocharged petrol engines, the 2 has a bigger engine to deliver efficiency. When combined with a focus on saving weight, this boosts fuel economy, but has the added benefit of making the Mazda2 a sporty yet comfortable choice.

If you want to lease a supermini with a sporty character but without the running costs of a powerful engine, then this Mazda is for you.

It’s fun to drive.

  • You’ll be able to get two adults in the back – or there are two sets of Isofix child seat mounts if you need to accommodate children. There’s a 280-litre boot on offer in the Mazda2, which is a little behind the class best, but a high-load lip means that items won’t roll out whenever the wide-opening tailgate is lifted. Fold the back seats down and there are 950 litres of space to play with.

The Mazda2 Hybrid has a smaller boot opening but can carry a bit more, with a 286-litre capacity. Cabin storage in the Mazda2 is fine, with twin cup holders and a small tray between the front seats, and another deep tray ahead of the gear lever where the USB and 12-volt sockets are.

The door bins are reasonable, while the glovebox is of a decent size, too. Mazda2 Hybrid models come with an electric parking brake, which makes some space on the centre console so that there’s a tray below a central armrest. There are additional trays beneath the central touchscreen and above the glovebox, and there are smaller door bins than in the non-hybrid.

  • There are 75-, 90- and 115hp versions of Mazda’s 4-cylinder petrol engine, and they all deliver good efficiency. The most powerful versions include mild-hybrid technology to help boost the economy further. Emissions range from 107g/km to a maximum of 122g/km for the 90hp engine with an automatic gearbox. The best fuel economy for the Mazda2 is 60.1mpg for the 90hp manual model, while the 75hp version manages 58.9mpg and the 115hp engine returns 56.5mpg. The 90hp engine with auto gearbox returns 52.3mpg.

If you need an automatic gearbox, then the Mazda2 Hybrid is the model to go for. This model is a full hybrid, so it runs on battery power as often as it can, with the petrol engine cutting in when it’s needed. This system works best in town at low speeds and if you stick to urban streets, you should be able to get close to the 74.3mpg Mazda quotes for it.

Mazda 2 Models Available To Lease

Mazda2 Hatchback

This is a 5-door only, with a choice of three petrol engines, all based on a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder unit. The least powerful engine only comes in the base trim, while the most powerful engine is the only option for the top-spec trim. In terms of transmissions, 6-speed manual gearboxes are offered with all three engines, and there’s the option of a 6-speed automatic with the middle one. All cars are front-wheel drive.

Mazda2 Hybrid Hatchback

The Hybrid is also a 5-door hatchback, but with a completely different shape because it’s a rebadged Toyota Yaris. It also comes with a 1.5-litre engine, but this time it’s a 3-cylinder unit that’s backed up by a hybrid battery and electric motor. So all models come with an automatic gearbox and there’s just one power output on offer. All cars are front-wheel drive.

Alloy wheels, electric heated door mirrors, auto lights and wipers, rear parking sensors, climate control, cruise control, a 6-speaker stereo with 8-inch touchscreen, DAB, Bluetooth, navigation with 3-year map updates, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are all included, among more, on the base-spec Mazda2.

Hybrid Trim Levels Available: Pure, Agile, Select.

All Hybrid versions feature: electric heated door mirrors, auto lights and wipers, electronic parking brake, climate control, adaptive cruise control, lane centring, lane departure assist, road sign recognition, 4-speaker stereo, 7-inch touchscreen, DAB, USB, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

  • The Mazda2 has been around for a little while, so any bugs should have been ironed out. Since it’s from a Japanese brand, it should prove reliable. And because the Mazda2 Hybrid has Toyota roots, you can be sure that it will run like clockwork.

  • There are 280 litres in the standard car and 286 litres in the Hybrid.

  • If you’re looking at Mazda2 lease deals, then the different trim names should tell you whether you’re looking at a Hybrid or not. The standard Mazda2 has SE-L, Sport, GT Sport, and GT Sport Tech trims, while the hybrids run Pure, Agile and then Select.

  • You get rear parking sensors on the standard Mazda2, while GT Sport adds a reversing camera and GT Sport Tech has front sensors, too. The Mazda2 Hybrid has rear parking sensors in Agile trim, while Select trim also adds front parking sensors.

  • Whether you choose the standard car or the Hybrid, space up front is fine, but neither car can challenge the supermini front-runners for outright cabin space. The back seats are a little tight for three, and the boots are fine for the weekly shop, but not great for bigger loads.

  • Toyota and Mazda signed a partnership in 2015, with Mazda providing its efficient petrol and diesel technology to Toyota in exchange for its hybrid expertise. The Mazda2 Hybrid, as a rebadging exercise, is a quick way for Mazda to reduce the emissions of its entire range of cars.

  • Leasing a Mazda2 with Vanarama is the smartest way to upgrade what you drive. Not only will you get the best price guaranteed with our Price Promise, but there are also no hidden fees, extra protection should the worst happen, and access to expert advice when you need it.
