The smallest of the four Jeep cars available is the Jeep Renegade. It might be a compact SUV with front-wheel drive but it’s still very capable, with plenty of rugged off-road styling, a choice of petrol engines and a plug-in hybrid option. The Jeep Compass maintains a sleek design, is a larger SUV than the Renegade and shares it’s look with the Grand Cherokee above it.
Perhaps the most recognisable model is the Jeep Wrangler. This is a pure off-roader with the most rugged look and incredible ability away from the tarmac. While off-roading rivals include the comprehensive Land Rover Defender, few – if any – can match the Wrangler’s unique, purposeful looks.
At the top of the range is the Grand Cherokee, another of Jeep’s vehicles to enjoy a decades-long production run. The latest iteration of the Grand Cherokee is also available as a 4xe plug-in hybrid with all-wheel drive and 380hp.
Hybrid And Electric Jeep Lease Options
Jeep gives the 4xe (4-by-E) name to all of its plug-in hybrid models, and all combine a petrol engine with an electric motor and battery pack giving an electric range of around 25 miles. Visually, there is little to tell the PHEV models apart from their regular petrol- and diesel-powered counterparts, aside from 4xe badging and blue contrasting details dotted around the bodywork.
Unlike other plug-in hybrids, the Renegade and Compass models are powered in a somewhat unique way, with the petrol engine running the front wheels, while the rear wheels are driven exclusively by the electric motor.
