Why Lease A BMW X6?
BMW’s ‘ultimate driving machine’ advertising slogan established it as a maker of performance-orientated cars that give plenty of driving enjoyment, and the X6 lives up to that image. The X6 is a large, coupe-styled SUV based on the X5, so it’s practical but also powerful.
A selection of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines offer up plenty of performance, and make it a strong leasing choice if you’re after a sporty SUV. However, what it doesn’t have is the X5’s plug-in hybrid engine, which means it’s probably not the most suitable car if you favour frugality. Luxurious and sophisticated, the X6 is a more than capable rival to the Audi Q8 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.
How Does Leasing A BMW X6 Work?
Leasing a BMW means you’ll get access to a brand-new car while making fixed monthly payments for the length of your contract. Lease deals typically last between 2-5 years, but you can decide the length of the deal to ensure it suits your needs.
You can also decide your annual mileage and choose how much you’d like to pay towards the car at the start of your contract. Car maintenance and servicing can also be included as an optional extra on your lease deal.
Once your leasing contract ends, all you need to do is return the car. If you choose a BMW X6 business lease, you can reclaim up to 100% of the VAT on your deal, providing your company is eligible.

BMW X6 Interior
BMW X6 Driving Experience
The X6 is larger than the BMW X4 and so offers more space, but perhaps not as much as you might think. The X6 has 580 litres of boot space with the rear seats in place, only 55 litres more than the X4. The split rear seats fold in a 40/20/40 configuration to carry both people and luggage, and there is more headroom than in the X4, if not quite as much as some rivals. Legroom and space in the front is fine for people of all shapes and sizes.
Lots of storage spaces are dotted around the interior. The door pockets are a decent size, while 2 cupholders in the front and a large armrest offer more cubbies. The boot floor is flat and items can be hidden from view by a roller cover.
In the same mould as models from Audi, Mercedes and Porsche, BMWs are premium cars with a focus on performance, so they won’t be the cheapest to lease. The engines in the X6 are high-performance petrols and diesels linked to a 4-wheel-drive system, so don’t expect the BMW to be the most economical. Saying that, the lowest-powered diesel – which still has 286hp – returns up to 42mpg on official economy tests.
Naturally, the high-power X6 M50i and X6 M Competition are the least economical, achieving low-20s mpg figures, but they are on a level with other rivals with the same performance.
BMW X6 Models Available To Lease

There is only 1 body style for the X6, which is a 5-door coupe-styled SUV.
High-Performance Models To Lease
The X6 has excellent performance, even in base spec. However, the sportiest versions rival many sports cars with their pace. The 530hp X6 M50i is fast enough, but the M Competition with its 625hp is something else again, reaching 62mph in just 3.8 seconds.

The basic spec list for the X6 includes 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED lights, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, leather upholstery and also twin 12.3-inch digital displays.
The BMW X6 Vs Competitors
The BMW X6 can take the credit as the first coupe-styled SUV, but now has to face up to more competition. Its most direct rivals are the similarly coupe-looking Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, the Audi Q8, Porsche Cayenne Coupe and the Range Rover Velar. Elsewhere, the Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GLE offer more practicality and the option of 7 seats.
The BMW X5 should also make your leasing shortlist, as it has the same features and is the same size as the X6, but has a plug-in hybrid option if you want to keep leasing costs down.
If you want to lease a large premium SUV that favours driving dynamics alongside practicality, then the X6 is a great choice. It’s more economical than some of its rivals, too.
Both of BMW’s SUVs are excellent leasing choices. The X5 has a larger boot and will be more comfortable for rear-seat passengers, but the X6 is still very practical.
BMW often scores highly in reliability surveys, and the X6 has a 3-year unlimited mileage warranty as standard, which includes BMW Emergency Service for those unforeseen events.
The base X6 is Sport, which offers a high level of standard equipment, while the X6 M Sport looks altogether more sporty with its M-specific styling. The M50i adds more performance, but choose the M Competition if you want the ultimate X6.
The X6 M Competition has more power than the X6 M50i (625hp versus 530hp) and sportier looks, with bi-colour alloy wheels and a more sumptuous interior. It also has a BMW M Sport differential.
The standard X6s use 3.0-litre turbocharged 6-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The high-performance X6 M50i and X6 M Competition models have 4.4-litre, twin-turbocharged 8-cylinder engines.
