BMW X5 Top Features

Good to drive.

Strong performance and economy.

Comfortable cabin.

  • The BMW X5 has ample room for passengers in the 1st and 2nd row of seats.  A 3rd row of foldable seats is an option on most models within the X5 range. This takes the total capacity up to 7 seats, although as with most SUVs, the final row is best suited to children.

Boot space is generous by any normal standards at 650 litres in 5-seat configuration, although some competitors offer even more, such as the Range Rover Sport, the Volvo XC90 and the Audi Q7.

  • The BMW X5’s fuel economy figures are generally better than average for a car of this size. The xDrive30d, for instance, returns up to 42.2mpg and CO2 figures generally compare favourably for company car drivers too.

There’s also the new X5 plug-in hybrid option, the xDrive45e. This offers an impressive electric-only range of up to 54 miles, which means that some drivers will be able to cover all their normal daily driving without ever firing up the petrol engine.

You’d certainly need to spend most of your time running on electricity to get anywhere near its official fuel economy rating of 235mpg – as is the case with any plug-in hybrid. In the real world, you’re more likely to see 40-50mpg in mixed driving, but that’s still impressive for a large SUV.

Why Choose Leasing?

When you lease a BMW X5, you get access to a brand-new car while making fixed monthly payments for the length of your contract.

You’ll get to decide your lease length, annual mileage and how much you’d like to pay upfront. Once your leasing contract ends, you simply return the car and upgrade if you wish. Read our guide to car leasing for more details on how contract hire works.

If you choose a BMW X5 business lease, you can reclaim up to 100% of the VAT on your deal, providing your company is eligible.

BMW X5 Models And Trim Levels Available To Lease

The BMW X5 is a 5 door SUV. It has a split tailgate, both sections of which can be operated remotely if you choose to lease a car with the Comfort Access pack.

BMW’s trim levels are more straightforward than some manufacturers’. The 2 main trim specs are xLine and M Sport, the latter being somewhat more sporty in drive and appearance. Further up the range, the V8-powered M50i is given its own trim spec, as is the incredibly powerful 625hp X5 M Competition.

There’s a strong list of standard equipment. Even the more affordable xLine models get heated leather front seats, satellite navigation, wireless phone charging and provisions for a WiFi hotspot, which can be accessed with a subscription.

Why Lease With Vanarama?

We guarantee the best prices on all our BMW X5 lease deals. Our Price Promise guarantees you the cheapest monthly payment with Vanarama. If you find a better deal anywhere else, we’ll match it! Plus, we offer free 30-day returns to give you peace of mind.

  • The X5 sits between the smaller BMW X3 and the huge BMW X7 family SUV.

  • The current generation X5 received a 5 star rating from NCAP, the highest rating possible.

  • If you want to access 7 seats, you’ll need to lease an X5 with the 3rd Row Seating option ticked. Nonetheless, the standard 5-seat cabin provides plenty of storage space.

  • The BMW X5 is a popular leasing choice because it responds so well to the questions posed by everyday driving. It’s comfortable, spacious and good to drive, with a good quality cabin and reasonable running costs for a vehicle of this size.
